Pact Studios led the planning, design, and construction administration services for a cancer center of excellence.

Nebraska Medicine set out on a mission to provide extraordinary care to cancer patients and their families in central Nebraska. After joining forces with Heartland Hematology and Oncology in Kearney, an expansion of services and increasing patient volumes created the need for more space. Pact studios led a multi-disciplinary team in the design of a new state-of-the-art cancer center to bring comprehensive cancer care closer to home for those residing in western and central Nebraska as well as those living in northern Kansas.

The 53,000-square-foot, two-story outpatient medical facility will be located on the University of Nebraska – Kearney’s University Village development. The future Cancer Center will offer a range of cancer services, including medical oncology, radiation oncology, infusion, laboratory and pharmacy services, survivorship programs, and genetics counseling. The facility will deliver leading-edge cancer care with the specialized expertise of an academic medical center. Patients will have access to peer-reviewed tumor boards, opportunities to participate in clinical trials, and connections to the most advanced cancer treatment available.

The Cancer Center features a two-story glass atrium welcoming patients and families upon arrival and directing them to their respective treatment area within. Amenities provided include a resource center, massage therapy, salon and fitting rooms, community conference room, and a healing garden. Careful consideration was made in the design of the facility to allow for future expansion of services. Shelled space was included on the second level to allow for clinic expansion and the building was situated on the site to allow for a 20,000-square-foot addition to be constructed.
