PROJECT DESCRIPTION
At UCHealth Poudre Valley Hospital in Fort Collins, Colorado, Pact Studios helped transform an outdated ICU/Neuro Unit into a modern 24-bed Progressive Care Unit/Cardiac Patient Unit—giving an existing patient floor a new clinical purpose while supporting the hospital’s evolving model of care.
The 15,000-square-foot renovation focused on unlocking value within the existing floor plate. Pact Studios led a multi-disciplinary team through programming, design, and construction, carefully upgrading patient rooms, care team support areas, patient care support spaces, and public areas to better serve progressive cardiac care patients and the staff who support them.
Six patient rooms were substantially remodeled to meet ADA accessibility requirements; two negative pressure isolation rooms were added, and the remaining patient rooms received new finishes and fixtures. Throughout the unit, the planning approach emphasized staff efficiency, clear circulation, and thoughtful use of existing space so the renovated floor could support a higher-acuity patient population without the need for new construction.
The project required approximately seven months of planning and design followed by nine months of construction. The result is a strategic renovation that extends the life of an existing hospital floor, improves the patient and staff experience, and demonstrates how thoughtful design can help facilities adapt to new needs.
