As part of an ongoing relationship with UCHealth, Pact Studios was engaged in 2020 to support long-term Tower 3 planning on the Anschutz Medical Campus in Aurora, Colorado. The work reflected the kind of strategic campus planning required by a leading academic medical center: solving critical infrastructure and logistics challenges in ways that support current operations while preparing the hospital for future growth. Located on the lower level of the hospital, adjacent to the main dock, the expansion was designed to improve materials management and environmental services functions within one of Colorado’s most complex healthcare campuses.

The project includes soiled material movement functions such as soiled linen and trash holding, trash compactors, and two truck bays for soiled materials removal. Above the new dock space, accessed from Level 1, Pact Studios helped plan mechanical space and a new air handling unit to serve the hospital’s future 24,000 square foot sterile processing replacement project.

The receiving area supports a smaller existing first-level dock that had previously accommodated both incoming and outbound materials. By separating clean supply chain reception and movement from soiled outbound material flow, the completed 2023 expansion helps UCHealth streamline operations, improve campus logistics, and reinforce a long-range planning strategy for continued investment at Anschutz.

The addition also improved the campus edge on 17th Street by upgrading the first-level dock with screen walls and enhanced landscaping, helping shield this essential back-of-house function from nearby pedestrian activity along the adjacent street. For Pact Studios, the project demonstrates how repeat-client knowledge and healthcare planning expertise can turn infrastructure-driven work into a thoughtful piece of long-term academic medical campus strategy.
